Woman killed by brother in city

A sexagenarian woman was strangulated to death allegedly by her younger brother following a dispute over repayment of loan money in the city's Bangshal area on Wednesday, reports UNB.
The deceased was identified as Asma Akter (60), wife of Jahangir Hossain, a resident of Bakdasha Lane in Nayabazar area.
Quoting the deceased's son Sumon, officials at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) said Akbar Hossain, younger brother of the deceased, borrowed Tk 1.5 million from Asma two months ago.
When Asma asked Akbar to repay the money, an altercation took place between them on Tuesday.
As a sequel to the altercation, Akbar along with his two associates entered Asma's house at about 9:30 am on Wednesday and strangulated her.
Hearing scream of the house inmates, local people rushed to the spot but the trio managed to flee the spot.
Critically injured, Asma was rushed to DMCH where doctors pronounced her dead.
