Woman raped in city Kazi office: 1 held

A woman has been raped allegedly by a member of the staff of a Kazi office (marriage registration office) in Ramna area in the city. Sub-Inspector (SI) Saidul Islam of Ramna Police Station said the incident took place at Maghbazar Kazi office on Tuesday. He said, the victim hailing from Baniyachang area of Gazipur district came to Maghbazar Kazi office at around 9:30am to take some papers of her marriage. At one stage a staff of the Kazi office took her to another room of the office and forcibly violated her. Receiving information, police rushed to the spot and rescued the woman. She was sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) for treatment. Police arrested Nurul Islam, the alleged rapist, the SI added, according to a news agency.
