Woman, teenage girl killed in city

A young woman and a teenage girl were killed by unknown miscreants in separate incidents in the city in the last three days ending on Wednesday. Some miscreants killed Laiju, 27, wife of M Ikbal, and dumped her body in the footpath in front of Eden College in New Market area at sometime between Tuesday night and Wednesday afternoon. The body bore injury marks. Being informed Sub-inspector Nizamul Haque of Lalbagh Police Station recovered the body and sent it to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) for autopsy. In separate incident, unidentified miscreants slaughtered a girl in a launch in Sadarghat area in the city on the Eid day (Monday). Being informed, a team from Keraniganj Police Station arrived at Sadarghat Launch Terminal and recovered the body from the launch named ‘Saykat-2’. Police suspected that the girl was strangulated to death after rape. The body was sent to Mitford Hospital for autopsy, according to private TV channels.
