Woman tortured to death \\\'by husband\\\'

A woman was tortured to death allegedly by her husband and mother-in-law over a dowry-related conflict at Rasulpur village at Satkhira town on Friday night. The victim was identified as Rabeya Khatun, 17, wife of Rabiul Islam, a resident of the village. Local sources said since after their marriage, Rabiul had often tortured Rabeya for dowry. On Friday night, Rabiul and his mother Rokeya Khatun engaged in an altercation with Rabeya mercilessly over the issue. At on stage they thumped her and beat her mercilessly, leaving her seriously injured. Hearing Rabeya’s screams, local people rescued her and took her to Satkhira Sadar Hospital where on-duty doctor declared her dead. Police arrested Rabiul and his mother, according to a news agency.
