RANGPUR, Mar 25 (BSS): Speakers at a conference of the grassroots women leaders here have said it is not possible to attain sustainable national development without women empowerment through establishing a gender discrimination-free society.
They were addressing the eleventh annual conference of the grassroots level women leaders of the upazila and city units of Grassroots Women Leaders Network (GWLN) organised with assistance of Nagorik Uddyog (NU) at Town Hall auditorium on Tuesday.
Executive Director of Bangladesh Legal Aid and Services Trust (BLAST) and noted lawyer of Bangladesh Supreme Court Barrister Sara Hossain attended and addressed the conference as the chief guest.
With President of upazila and city units of GWLN Kalpona Rani Roy in the chair, the trained grassroots women leaders, government and NGO officials, women leaders and activists, civil society members and elite participated in the conference.
Senior District Information Officer Humayun Kabir, President of Amrai Pari District Paribarik Nirjaton Protirodh Committee Principal Fakhrul Anam Benzu, district President of Sushashoner Janno Nagorik (SJN) Professor Maloy Kishore Bhattacharya and Sadar Upazila Social Service Officer Joynal Abedin, addressed as special guests.
Chief of Nagorik Uddyog Zakir Hossain, Medical Officer of Family Planning Association of Bangladesh Dr Samorpita Ghosh Tanya, district unit President of Bangladesh Mohila Parishad Hasna Chowdhury, President of Rangpur divisional unit of Women Entrepreneurs Association Era Haque, SJN Member Mosfeka Razzaque spoke at the meetings.
