Women entrepreneurs in Jessore receive loan from BB governor

JESSORE, Oct 29: Dr Atiur Rahman, Governor, Bangladesh Bank on Saturday distributed loans among 10 small women entrepreneurs in the town at a programme at Jessore Municipal Community Centre.
He also kicked off a handicrafts exhibition made by small women entrepreneurs at the community centre in the morning. Shahjalal Islami Bank organised the programme.
Presided by Abdur Rahman Sirkar, managing director, Shahjalal Islami Bank Limited, the programme was addressed among others by Mostafizur Rahman, deputy commissioner, Jessore, Tanjila Khatun, Majeda Begum, Monjila Johor and Farzana Begum.
In his speech, the BB governor said Jessore has a significant background in business. In handicrafts sector, Jessore Stitch has its own glory.
'Women entrepreneurs can play a key role in bringing Jessore Stitch brand into international arena', BB governor added.
Several banks are trying to make Jessore a model in business as it has all type facilities. 'We should work together to reach the goal,' he said.
10 injured in

Munshiganj, Oct 29 (UNB): Ten people were injured in a head-on-collision between a covered van and a truck on Dhaka-Chittagong highway at Baluakandi in Gazaria upazila in Munshiganj on Friday.
The injured were rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital and local Bhoberchar health complex.
