Women journalists have better days ahead

Speakers at a programme said opportunities for women journalists are increasing day by day which needs to be taken earnestly by ensuring suitable working environment for them.
They said some organisations in our country are playing effective role by inspiring and flourishing their creativity to come to the profession.
The speakers were addressing a certificate giving ceremony in the city Wednesday organised by News Network, a news feature agency.
Some 40 women journalists, who completed a six-month skill development training, received certificates on the occasion.
USAID Progati supported the training on 'Fellowship Programme for Women Journalists'.
Editor of News Network Shahiduzzaman presided over the function, while chief information commissioner of Information Commission Muhammad Zamir attended as chief guest.
Chief executive of Boishakhi TV Monjurul Ahsan Bulbul, Editor of Daily Shamokal Golam Sarwar, Columnist Zaglul Ahmed Chowdhury of the Financial Express, International president of Commonwealth Journalists Association Hassan Shahrier and chief of party of USAID Progati Hugh C Orozco were, among others, present on the occasion.
Mr Sarwar said women journalists are trying to come forward same as the male journalists.
Mr Zamir said that good governance in a country could be ensured through proper use of information. "So you must be honest in giving information", he added.
