Women leaders demand arrest of Oli Ahmed for his perverted remarks

Our Correspondent CHITTAGONG, Nov 23: Leaders of a women forum today demanded immediate arrest and exemplary punishment of LDP leader Oli Ahmed MP. Fight for Women's Rights (FWR) organised a human chain to protest against the remarks of Oli Ahmed about a female lawmaker, Chemon Ara Tayab who has been assigned the responsibility of Col (retired) Oli Ahmed's constituency Chandanaish. The human chain was formed in front of Chittagong Press Club for an hour in the morning. Several hundred people including male, female and students participated in the programme. Later the leaders addressed a protest rally at the venue which was presided over by head of the FWR Rehana Kabir Ranu, also a female ward councillor of Chittagong City Corporation. The leaders said Col (retd) Dr Oli Ahmed should be arrested for his perverted remarks about a female MP. "Or he will be chased and thrown sandals wherever he is found in Chittagong," said the female leaders. Meanwhile, the city Jubo League (JL) members burned the effigy of the chairman of Liberal Democratic Party Oli Ahmed at the central Shahid Minar in the city. The JL organised a protest rally at the venue in the afternoon. Presided over by president of the JL Chittagong city unit the rally was addressed among others by the JL central presidium member Altaf Hussain Bachchu, secretary of city unit Mashiur Rahman, joint secretary Mohiuddin Bachchu and Farid Uddin.
