Women MPs take oath tomorrow

Forty-eight MPs who have been elected uncontested from the seats reserved for women in the 10th Parliament will take oath on Sunday, officials say. Speaker Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury will administer the oath at the Parliament building at 11am, Parliament Secretariat spokesperson Md Joynal Abedin told bdnews24.com on Saturday. The Election Commission declared the women winners on Wednesday and a gazette was published the following day. Of the MPs, 38 are from the Awami League, one each from the Workers Party and JaSaD, five from the Jatiya Party and three from the independent lawmakers’ alliance, according to bdnews24.com.
