Women police should be judged by competence, says Speaker

Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Choudhury said Wednesday that competence and merit should be the criteria for promotion as well as leadership role for the members of women police.
“There should not be any discrimination against women only for being women.” she said while addressing as the chief guest at the opening session of the second National Conference 2014 of Bangladesh Police Women’s Network (BPWN) at Mirpur Staff College, according to a news agency.
President of BPWN and Additional Police Commissioner (traffic) of DMP Mili Biswas PPM presided over the function.
Underlining the contribution of women police at home and abroad, the Speaker said  they have already earned reputation for their merit, efficiency in performing their duties in the country as well as UN peace keeping missions.
