Women T20 1st Semi: Australia face West Indies Thursday

Defending champions Australia Women’s team will go head to head against West Indies Women’s team in the first semifinal of the ICC Women’s World Twenty20 at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur Thursday, according to a news agency. The match will kick off 2:30pm. Australia Women’s team will play semifinal as the Group–A champion securing 6 points from four matches while West Indies Women’s team confirmed their semifinal berth from Group-B with 2nd slot in the table also earning 6 points from the same number of matches. In the league stage, holders Australia lost to New Zealand by 7 runs in their first match while in the next three matches they beat South Africa, Pakistan and Ireland by 6 wickets, 94 runs and 78 runs respectively. On the other hand, West Indies Women’s team beat their rivals — England by 9 runs, Bangladesh by 36 runs, Sri Lanka by 8 wickets — in the first three matches and lost to India by 9 wickets in the 4th and last match. In the 2nd semifinal, England Women’s team will take on South Africa Women’s team that is scheduled to be held on Friday (April 4) at 2:30 pm at the same venue.
