Women T20: India beat Bangladesh by 79 runs

An opening stand of 107 runs by Harmanpreet Kaur and Mithali Rajb guided India women’s team to taste their first victory in the ICC Women’s World Twenty20 beating Bangladesh women’s team by 79 runs in a Group B match at Sylhet Stadium Sunday.
Replying to India’s 151 runs, Bangladesh made 72 runs for 8 wickets in 20 overs, according to a news agency.
Skipper Salma Khatun scored team highest 19 runs off 18 balls with a six.
Farjana Hoque (15), Ayesha Rahman (10) and Lata Mondal (10) were the other double digit scorers for Bangladesh.
Jhulan Goswami and Shubhlakshmi Sharma captured three wickets each for 11 and 12 runs respectively while PoonamYadav took two wickets for 10 runs.
Earlier, batting first after winning the toss, India posted a challenging 151 runs for 5 in 20 overs.
