Women World T20: West Indies beats England by 9 runs

West Indies women’s team made a good start in the ICC Women’s World Twenty20 beating England eves team by nine runs in the Group B opener at the Sylhet Stadium Monday.
 Sent into bat first, the West Indies women scored moderate 133 for 7 in 20 overs and later restricted English women at 124 for 9 in allocated 20 overs, according to a news agency.
 Going to bat first, the Caribbean eves’ team made a flying start scoring 87 runs in 12.3 overs in the opening stand between Kycia Knight and Stafanie Taylor, but they lost seven wickets within 6.5 overs, adding only 42 runs.
 The 22-year-old Jamaican opener, Stafanie Taylor contributed 56 runs off 45 balls with three fours and two sixes, while another opener Kycia Knight from Barbados scored 43 runs off 42 balls, also with three fours and two sixes.
 Skipper MR Aguilleira (11) was the other notable contributor for West Indies who reached double figure.
 NR Sciver was the most successful among the English bowlers taking three wickets for 18 runs while A Shrubsole took two wickets for 25 runs.
 Chasing a target of 134 runs, the English women were forced to fold their innings at 124 runs for 9 in 20 overs against devastating bowling by right arm medium pacer Deandra Dottin.
 Opener CM Edwards scored team highest 44 runs off 39 balls with seven fours while another opener SJ Taylor added 15-ball 17 runs with two fours.
 Besides, LS Greenway (14), D Hazell (11) and A Shrubsole (10) were the other contributors for the English women.
 Deandra Dottin caused the major damage to the English innings grabbing four wickets for 12 runs in four overs with one maiden while SC Selman, TD Smartt and SF Daley took one wicket each.
