Women's digital literacy is crucial for tapping opportunities in the coming days, experts at a seminar Thursday observed.
They also put emphasis on involvement of women in AI management to prevent gender bias in algorithms.
They were speaking at a seminar titled "Inclusive Innovation: Empowering Women in the AI Era", organised as a side event of the three-day US Trade Show 2024, which began at Intercontinental Hotel on the day.
Economic officer of the US Embassy to Dhaka Amy Cass moderated the seminar while country managing director of Oracle (BD, Nepal, Bhutan) Rubaba Dowla, Supreme Court lawyer Barrister Rashna Imam, Coca Cola Bangladesh Ltd Managing Director Ju-un Nahar Choudhury were discussants.
Barrister Rashna Imam said the involvement of women in AI management is essential globally so that the algorithm doesn't be gender-biased.
She said AI is now a reality and "we should cope with the newer innovations".
Rashna said: " For me, a healthy job environment for women is where they could work without any fear and discrimination".
Talking on disputes and foreign investments, she said thousands of cases have been pending in Bangladesh for years following a three-tier judicial system.
To attract foreign as well as US investment, she said trade dispute resolution mechanisms should be very dynamic.
Rubaba Dowla said digitization brought groundbreaking changes and also generated a range of jobs.
People can even work from home, she said.
Women especially have benefits who are digitally literate.
So, digital literacy is a must for working women in the new AI era, she said.
She also said mentorship by NGOs, government or other organisations is very important to make women self-dependent and capable.
After the end of the mentorship or any training, maintaining contact with a woman is also vital so that she can secure a place.
Another seminar on US Business Licensing was also held where audiences were informed on the mechanism of exports and imports from the US and their respective authorities.
