After a break of about seven years the Women's Football League, organised by women's wing of Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF), will begin tomorrow (Saturday) at Bir Sherestha Shaheed Shipahi Mostafa Kamal Stadium in Kamalapur, reports UNB.
Bashundhara Kings will play Begum Anwara Sporting Club in the opening match tomorrow (Saturday) afternoon. The league deferred for the 3rd times for different reasons.
The women's wing of BFF excluded the other team--Shopnochura and Akelpur Football Academy of Sylhet-- from the league due to internal conflict and grouping inside the club, although the club participated in the players transfer formalities.
Chairman of the BFF Women's Football Committee Mahfuza Akhter Kiron said, "Shopnochura and Akelpur Football Academy should not participate in the league, as the club has a few groups, two groups issued separate and contradictory letter to us, so, we talked to them to analyse the situation and finally decided to exclude them from the league".
"The club has registered 23 players mostly from Sylhet, who are not so prominent to play in the league, but certainly they will be deprived to play in the league, so we will try to accommodate them in the league and tournaments" Kiron added.
Former national footballer cum defender Kaiser Hamid, who is the secretary of Shopnochura Club, said, "We are really shocked with BFF decision, which we have received through mail recently, we have some problems but we already solved it"
BFF General Secretary Abu Nayeem Shohag said, "We were forced to defer league due to clubs interest. The club wanted to do more practice before the league. "
Seven teams: Bashundhara Kings, Begum Anwara Sporting Club, Cumilla United, Jamalpur Ekadash, Nasrin Sports Academy, Spartan MK Gallactico Sylhet FC and FC Uttar Bango -will participate on double league basis in the competition.
