WomenT20: England beat Bangladesh by 79 runs

England women’s team beat Bangladesh women’s team by huge 79 runs in a Group-B match of the ICC Women’s Twenty20 at Sylhet Stadium Friday. Replying to England women’s 137 runs, Bangladesh women’s team scored 58 runs for 9 wickets in 20 overs, according to a news agency. Lower order Fahima Khatun scored run a-ball 16 not out with two fours, opener Ayesha Rahman made 10 runs off 11 balls with two fours while Lata Mondal also made 10 runs off 17 balls with a four before victim of run out by Lydia Greenway. Danielle Hazell and Natalie Sciver grabbed 3 wickets each for 4 and 10 runs respectively while Anya Shrubsole took 2 wickets for 17 runs. Earlier, batting first after winning the toss, England women’s team scored a moderate 137 runs for 5 wickets in stipulated 20 overs. In the 4th wicket stand, skipper cum opener Charlotte Edwards pairing with Natalie Sciver contributed 50 runs in 6.3 overs before Sciver was caught by Fahima Khatun off a Khadija Tul Kubra delivery, leaving total 99 for 4 in 17 overs. Charlotte Edwards played a composed innings scoring 80 runs off 69 balls with 11 boundaries before she was stamped by Nuzhat Tasnia off Salma Khatun bowling. Middle order Natalie Sciver made 20 runs off 16 balls with a four while Heather Knight made not out 18 runs off 9 balls with two fours. Skipper Salma Khatun and Khadija Tul Kubra captured two wickets each for 26 and 29 runs respectively while Rumana Ahmed took one wicket for 17 runs.
