Women’s reg for jobs abroad begins today

Enrolment of female workers for all destinations, including Saudi Arabia, will begin today (Thursday) to help check middlemen's interference in the recruitment process, said officials.
The schedule for Dhaka Division is from March 05 to 11, Rajshahi and Rangpur 12 to 16, Chittagong and Sylhet 17 to 23, and Khulna and Barisal 24 to 28.
The enrolment will take place at union, city and municipality digital centres as well as district manpower offices from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm each day.
Following good demand for female workers abroad, including in the countries like Saudi Arabia and Hong Kong, the government has taken the programme, said an official of the ministry of expatriates' welfare and overseas employment.
Saudi Arabia will take Bangladeshi workers under 12 categories for its housekeeping sector. Of them, it will hire housemaid at first, he said.
Last month the Arab country signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Bangladesh to recruit domestic helps.
Aspirants can give choice for house-keeper, caregiver, babysitter, gardener, guard, cleaner, cook and worker for apparel sector as profession while registration.
For caregiver, babysitter and driver candidates must have at least secondary school certificate.
Age limit for skilled, semi-skilled and unskilled garment workers is between 18 and 45 years, and for other sectors between 25 and 45 years.
Machine-readable passport (MRP) is required during enrolment. If it is not available, the aspirants have to show national identity card or birth certificate. Besides, they have to place good conduct certificates.
Job-seekers also have to show education, training and experience certificates, if they have.
Bureau of Manpower Employment and Training (BMET) has already a database of 2.2 million workers of 48 trades.
