Women’s T20: England opt to field
Friday, 4 April 2014
England Women captain Charlotte Edwards won the toss and chose to bowl in the second semi-final against South Africa in Dhaka on Friday. She contended that the pitch wouldn't change too much over the 40 overs of the semifinal. Mignon du Preez, the South Africa Women's captain, wasn't too unhappy to have lost the toss, saying she would have chosen to bat anyway. England strengthened their batting, bringing in Tammy Beaumont for medium-pacer Georgia Elwiss. South Africa made one change too, Yolandi van der Westhuizen came in for Shandre Fritz. This is England's third semi-final appearance in the World T20. They beat Australia in 2009 on their way to the title, and beat New Zealand in 2012, before losing to Australia in the final. South Africa have never been in a semifinal before, according to espncricinfo.com.
