Work for the welfare of the people

WHILE presiding over a cabinet meeting on Monday, 25 January, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina asked the ministers, secretaries and public servants not to pile up files on their tables as she reminded that the present government did not come to power to while way time. She said, ''We are here to serve the people of the country and improve their conditions.'' She also urged the ministers and bureaucrats to do their respective work with more sincerity, dignity and responsibility. These are, indeed, good words.
For the welfare of the country, the government and the opposition should work together. They should not oppose one another merely for gaining temporary power. They should work for ensuring peace to all.
