Work-oriented edn for indigenous minority youths underscored

RAJSHAHI, Nov 12 (BSS): Work-oriented education and training can be the best way of making the ethnic minority young men and women self-reliant coupled with worthy citizens.
There is also a need to provide stipend to support the ongoing educational activities of the indigenous minority students.
The observation came in the 41st executive council meeting of the Rajshahi Divisional Ethnic Minority Cultural Academy (RDEMCA) held at the office conference hall of Divisional Commissioner here on Sunday.
With Divisional Commissioner and RDEMCA President Dr Dewan Muhammad Humayun Kabir in the chair, the meeting was addressed by Deputy Director Kolyan Chowdhury executive and research officer Benjamin Tudu and Research Assistant Muhammad Shajahan.
Council members Akbarul Hassan Millat, Subadh Chandra Mahato, Monwara Parveen, Shelly Pricilla Biswash and Shesen Shyam Duar also spoke on the occasion.
Commissioner Dr Humayun Kabir said transparency and accountability must be ensured in all the development and expansion works of the academy.
Meanwhile, RDEMCA has got a new look as well expanding opportunities for local indigenous people to promote their culture in many ways amid implementation of diversified innovation programmes.
Rajshahi is a home of around 21 indigenous minority groups and the academy has been working for promoting, protecting and fostering their culture and heritage.
