President tells UAE, Afghan envoys

Ambassadors designate of United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Afghanistan to Bangladesh separately presented their credentials to President Abdul Hamid at Bangabhaban on Wednesday, reports UNB.
The envoys are Saed Mohammed Saed Hamid Almheiri of UAE and Abdul Qayoom Malikzad of Afghanistan.
Welcoming the ambassadors, the President assured them of overall cooperation in discharging their duties and expressed the hope that they will play their due role in strengthening bilateral relations between Bangladesh and their respective countries.
President's Press Secretary Joynal Abedin briefed reporters after the meetings.
President Abdul Hamid said the relationship between Bangladesh and United Arab Emirates (UAE) has reached a multilateral level, which was once initiated with the visit of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in 1974.
He said UAE is one of the most influential development partners.
There is a bright possibility of the investment and business between the two countries.
He emphasised the exchange of government and private visit as well as initiatives to further liberalise, streamline and ease of visa.
Mentioning the visit of the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at UAE in 2015, the visit opened the new horizon of the relationship between the respective countries. He also called for the investment in Bangladesh.
The President also welcomed the ambassador of Abdul Qayoom Malikzad of Afghanistan after his arrival at 4.30 pm.
After welcoming the ambassador of Afghanistan, Abdul Hamid said that Afghanistan's relationship with Bangladesh is very traditional.
Afghanistan has enough scope to expand trade and investment relations with Bangladesh.
Bangladesh already exports various products including medicines.
