Work together to ensure mothers\\\' safety : Speaker

Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury urged all on Sunday to work together to ensure safety and happiness for every mother and asked all to say no to all types of repression towards them, reports UNB.
"Let's together say no to all the torture towards mothers. Let's work together to make their lives more beautiful, more protected and safer," she said, adding that mothers still face various types of agonies in many cases.
The Speaker was speaking as chief guest at an award giving ceremony - Azad Products Ratnagarva Maa Award-2013 - at a city hotel.
State Minister for Foreign Affairs M Shahriar Alam, Information Secretary Mortuza Ahmed, eminent journalist Golam Sarwar, former president of Bangladesh Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BMCCI) Selima Ahmed, and Chairman and Managing Director of Azad Products Abul Kalam Azad also spoke at the function.
Speaker Shirin Sharmin said mothers, even at this age of globalisation and free flow of information, still die at the time of childbirth in many countries of the world.
Later, the guests handed over awards to 36 'Ratnagarva Maas' in two categories.
