Work together to root out militancy, Tuku urges all

RANGPUR, June 19 (BSS): State Minister for Home Affairs Shamsul Haque Tuku has said Jamaat-Shibir has been trying to create an unstable situation by triggering and assisting religious militancy when the government has started the process of trial of the war criminals.
"People from all walks in the society will definitely resist their evil designs to root out militancy once for all", he added.
He was addressing a discussion meeting on 'Role of Imams in Resisting Militancy and Terrorism for Maintaining Peace and Order in the Country' as the chief guest Friday.
Islamic Foundation of Bangladesh (IFB) organised the discussion at the Rangpur Town Hall auditorium.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) of the district BM Enamul Haque presided over the function while IFB secretary Rezaul Karim, chairman of Islami Oikyo Jote Misbahur Rahman Chowdhury, joint convener of Rangpur Awami League Rezaul Karin Raju and SP Saleh Mohammad Tanveer were also present on the occasion.
The state minister said, "The BNP-Jamaat government while in power patronised and created the Islami religious militancy in the country and presently they are trying to destabilise the country by triggering militancy."
They are engaged in hampering the ongoing development activities of the present government, he claimed.
