Friday, 17 April 2009

President Zillur Rahman Thursday urged all to work unitedly with the spirit of the War of Liberation to implement the 'Charter for Change' as pledged by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, reports BSS.
In a message on the eve of the Historic Mujibnagar Day, the President said Bangabandhu's daughter Sheikh Hasina had announced her pledge to turn Bangladesh into a prosperous country by freeing it from all sorts of repression and oppression as well as hunger and poverty.
Zillur Rahman said the Mujibnagar government after its formation on April 17, 1971 played a very significant role in conducting the War of Liberation side by side with creating public opinion in favour of Independent Bangladesh in the international arena during that period.
The President said the contribution of that government would remain ever remembered in the history of the country's War of Liberation.
"On this day, I recall with due respect Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and four national leaders Sayed Nazrul Islam, Tajuddin Ahmed, Captain M Mansur Ali and AHM Kamruzzaman, who conducted the War of Liberation," he said.
President Zillur Rahman also congratulated all valiant freedom fighters as well as organisers and supporters of the War of Liberation on this highly auspicious day.
