Prime Minister (PM) Sheikh Hasina hoped Friday that the members of the coast guard would ensure foolproof security of the country's maritime and coastal region by utilising their knowledge and experience and being imbued with patriotism, reports BSS.
"The government has already taken various measures to build the coast guard as a capable force because we're committed to strengthening the coast guard in ensuring the security of the life and property of the country's vast maritime boundary and coastal belt," the PM said in a message on the eve of the 20th anniversary of Bangladesh Coast Guard and 'Coast Guard Day 2015'.
She said the government has already built a modern training base and collected high-speed boats for this force. Besides increasing the manpower of the coast guard, the number of stations for it has been increased, she said.
Sheikh Hasina said a move is underway to collect more boats for the coast guard.
"Building a strong security ring is needed to protect the vast national maritime resources and to this end, there is no alternative to building a modern and time-befitting coast guard," she said.
The PM hoped that the coast guard would secure harnessing of maritime resources and help the government implement 'Vision-2021' and 'Vision 2041'.
Sheikh Hasina wished gradual success of coast guard and greeted its members.
