Workers block Ctg airport road

CHATTOGRAM, Sept 24: Several hundred workers of two factories at Chittagong Export Processing Zone (CEPZ) staged a demonstration on Wednesday by blocking Airport Road demanding payment of salary arrears.
The four-hour blockade which began at 9:00 am snarled up the traffic, inflicting suffering on commuters. Later, police rushed to the spot and talked to the workers. Following assurance from the police administration, the workers dispersed around 1:00 pm.
Superintendent of Police (SP) of Industrial Police in Chattogram Abdullah Al Mahmud said, "We've persuaded them (workers) to move from the airport road. We've arranged a meeting between workers and owners to solve the crisis."
