Workers damage several garments units, vehicles

FE Report brAngry garments workers damaged over a dozen garments factories and several motor vehicles at Naujor, Gazipur Tuesday following the rumour of death of their three colleagues. brThe angry workers of Diganta Sweater also clashed with workers of other factories in Naujor area when they refused to join the protest that left at least 50 workers and police corps injured, police of Gazipur Sadar thana said. brThey took position on Dhaka-Tangail Highway and Dhaka-Mymensingh Highway and staged demonstration. Vehicular movement on the busy roads stopped from the morning due to the violent demonstration, which caused heavy traffic jam in the area and untold sufferings for the people. brAccording Gazipur police station, several hundred workers of Diganta Sweater came out of the factory building and started demonstration at about 9.0am when a rumour spread that three workers were found dead in a bathroom of the factory. brPolice rushed to the scene and fired several rounds of teargas shell and charged baton to bring the situation under control. brNews of death of three workers was nothing but a rumour, said an official of Gazipur thana.br
