Workers of Baropukuria Coalfield call off strike

The local workers of Baropukuria coal mine called off the strike today as Chinese contractor agreed to raise the minimum daily wage by Tk 40 to 50. A tripartite meeting of workers' representatives, Chinese operation and maintenance contractor CMC-XMC Consortium and Barapukuria Coal Mine Company reached the accord on wage increase, said an official. Following the accord, full-scale production in the coalmine resumed at 11am. —UNB
