Workers paid enhanced bonus, situation normal in Ctg port

CHITTAGONG, Nov 24: Activities in the Chittagong port remain normal as the dock workers and merchant workers have been paid enhanced bonus on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha.
The dock workers have got Tk 5,500 each while the merchant workers got the bonus at the rate of Tk 2,500, enhanced by Tk 500 and Tk 1000 respectively.
Earlier, the situation in the port turned abnormal as the workers employed under private berth operators demanded enhanced Eid bonus. President of Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) MA Latif MP supported their demand alleging that the berth operators were depriving the workers of the dues.
The berth operators, however, contradicted Latif's statement and counter-alleged that the CCCI president was instigating the dock workers to create unrest in the port.
