Workshop on employment for ultra-poor held

KHULNA, Oct 9. A day-long workshop on 'Employment Programme for the Ultra-Poor' was held recently at Deputy Commissioner Conference room under the auspices of the District Administration.
The workshop conducted by the Deputy Commissioner, Khulna, Md Jamsher Ahmed Khondoker, and participated among others by Deputy Secretary of Food and Disaster Management GM Faruk, ADC (General) Shattendranath Sarker and vice-president of District Awami League Mohammad Ali.
The workshop noted that the objects of the programme were for creating employment opportunity and increasing buying capacity of the unemployed ultra-poor, small size infrastructure at rural area, communication, development of environment and human resources.
The programme which will start from today (Sunday) will be implemented in 133 Upazillas in 64 districts of the country at the coastal areas on priority basis. Channel digging, construction of road and dam, water logging problem and other development and maintenance work will be implemented under this programme.
Under this programme the people of age group from 15 to 60 years of the rural area will be benefited. They will be paid Tk 150 per day for seven hours duty.
