The Governor Bangladesh Bank will inaugurate the workshop. The international consultants from Tetra Tech will present the findings of 120 energy audits conducted by them in the Bangladesh and will make recommendations for promoting industrial energy efficiency.
Bangladesh is currently going through serious energy crisis. The power cuts in the Dhaka are also very frequent. Gas, the main source of energy in the country, is insufficient to meet demand. Energy shortages are already undermining the country's economic and social progress. One of the estimates has predicted that gas reserves of the country will end in 2030.  The industrial sector consumption is 40% of the total energy consumption.  The global experience suggests that it should be possible to reduce industrial energy consumption by 30% which means 12% of the country's total energy consumption.
