Workshop on media and human rights held

KHULNA, Feb 22: A one-day Professional Development Workshop on the Media and Human Rights, as a part of Transparency for Human Rights project in Bangladesh was held at CSS Ava Center in Khulna.
Under the programme of European Instrument for Democracy and Human Rights (EIDHR), RELIEF International in collaboration with the partner organisation Democracywatch (DW) organised the Professional Development Workshop for journalists at Khulna district.
The workshop was inaugurated by Mr. Jamsher Ahmed Khandaker, Deputy Commissioner; Khulna. The objective of the workshop was to introduce the participants with the training curriculum on Media and Human Rights as well as to discuss about the role of media in protecting human rights. The workshop was also a recruitment tool of National Network of Concerned Journalists (NNCJ) in Khulna which would be strengthened with the knowledge of peer learning techniques, organisation management and ICT in journalism.
In the workshop, Mr. Gouranga Nandy, Bureau Chief of Daily Kaler Kantha, Khulna moderated the session of Media and it's relation to protecting human rights while Md. Rahmatullah Faruque, Programme Officer of RELIEF International shared the thematic perspectives of Human Rights and the advocacy mechanisms.
About 30 journalists from local, national dailies and electronic Medias took part in the workshop.
