Workshop on village courts

Another report adds: A day-long workshop on 'Role of Media to Activate Village Courts in the Country' was held at Rangpur DC Office in the town Thursday. The district administration in association with the UNDP Bangladesh and the European Union organised the workshop. With a view to ensuring good governance and sustainable development, the government introduced a five-year (2009-2013) project on establishing village courts under the Local Government, Rural Development (LGRD) and Cooperatives Ministry. The project is being implemented in 500 unions under 17 districts across the country. Deputy Commissioner BM Enamul Haque was present as the chief guest while Senior Assistant Superintendent of Police Shariful Haque was present as special guest. A total of 40 journalists from print and electronic media took part in the day long workshop.
