Wednesday, 9 December 2009

FE Report
BGMEA and UNFPA jointly observed 'World AIDS Day- 2009' with a renewed call for eradicating HIV/AIDS and fighting social stigma related to it among the garment workers Tuesday in the city.
"Bangladesh is still a low HIV epidemic country," Arthur Erken, resident representative of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), Bangladesh said.
Less than 1.0 per cent of the population has been affected with the HIV virus, he said emphasising the need for concerted and comprehensive efforts involving all stakeholders to counter the epidemic.
Involving men in the prevention, treatment, care and support is one of the ways of bringing about the desired change.
