World Anti-Drug Day observed in districts

CHUADANGA, Jun 26: The World Anti-Drug Day 2014 was observed under the banner of 'Madakasakti Protirodh and Niramay Jagga' in Chuadanga district with elaborate programmes Thursday.
To mark the day, a colourful rally was brought out from Deputy Commissioner's office premises led by Mr Delwar Husain, Deputy Commissioner of Chuadanga which ended at the same place after parading through different main streets of the town.
Chuadanga District Administration and District Narcotics Control Department jointly organised the rally.
BSS report from Faridpur says: The 'International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking' a part of the global programme was observed here today in a befitting manner.
In this connection local Narcotics Control Department in collaboration with district administration chalked out an elaborate programme that included painting and essay competitions projecting the adverse impact of drug abuse and its harmful effect on our juveniles and youths.
To mark the day a rally was brought out in the town participated by school and college students to create awareness among the people against drug abuse.
A discussion meeting was held at local Kabi Jasimuddin hall in this connection with DC Sardar Sharafat Ali was the chief guest with ADC(Rev) Abdur Rashid in the chair. Police Super Md Jamil Hassan attended the meeting as special guest.
Speakers at the discussion stressed the need for tougher law to curb the drug menace from our society.
They urged the law enforcement agencies to be vigilant against the illegal trafficking of the harmful drugs. They also stressed the need for inclusion of harmful effect of drugs in the curriculum of text books.
