S Lanka to hire cruise liner for WC fans
COLOMBO, June 1 (AFP): Sri Lanka plans to hire a cruise liner to accommodate cricket World Cup (WC) fans and spectators at the newly built stadium in the island's south, an official said on Tuesday. The six-million dollar stadium in Hambantota, President Mahinda Rajapakse's hometown, lacks hotels to accommodate thousands of fans expected to watch the games in February-April next year. The 43-day tournament will be played across 13 venues in India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh and ends with the final on April 2 at Mumbai's Wankhede stadium.

PARIS, June 1 (AFP): Thierry Henry may be France's all-time top scorer and leader of his country's attack for over a decade yet he is set to fill an unaccustomed role as 'super sub' at the World Cup in South Africa. Henry reportedly agreed to be deployed as what L'Equipe Monday described as a 'joker de luxe' when national manager Raymond Domenech paid him a visit in Barcelona this month.
Killen gives up honeymoon for NZ WC duty
WELLINGTON, June 1 (AFP): New Zealand striker Chris Killen had his white wedding but gave up his honeymoon to rejoin his New Zealand team-mates in the lead-up to their first World Cup appearance in nearly three decades. Killen missed the All Whites' shock 1-0 defeat of Serbia in a World Cup warm-up in Austria Saturday after flying to Britain for his wedding, but the Middlesbrough player has since rejoined the squad.
