World Cyber Games begin in city

The Selection Round of the World Cyber Games (WCG) 2008 sponsored by djuice of Grameenphone has begun on the BRAC University campus in the city Thursday.
Around 800 participants from schools, colleges and universities around the country are taking part in this three-day national championship organised by F1 management.
Hundreds of gamers contested with each other in online games like Fifa 2008, NFS: Pro-Street, War Craft III, and Counter Strike 1.6 on the inaugural day of the championship which will last till May 17.
Out of the contestants, 8 top gamers will proceed to the Grand Final of the WCG 2008 to be held in Cologne, Germany from November 5 to 9 this year.
Bangladesh has been participating in this biggest international gala of cyber games since 2005. Over 700 players from approximately 74 countries will take part in this year's grand final in Germany.
