RANGPUR, Nov 14: World Diabetes Day 2011 with the theme "Diabetes kills one person every eight seconds, Act on Diabetes now" was observed here in Rangpur through various progrmmes in a befitting manner today.
The district unit of Diabetic Samity, Rangpur, local administration, different government and non-government organisations chalked out an elaborate progrmme to create awareness among the people about this silent killer.
The programmes included colourful procession, free blood test and discussion session.
To observe the day District Diabetic Samity brought out a rally which paraded the main roads of the town.
Deputy Commissioner of Rangpur and president of District Diabetic Samity, BM Enamul Haque attended the meeting as the chief guest and former president of Rangpur Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) and vice president of FBCCI Mostafa Azad Chowdhury Babu addressed the meeting as special guest.
Head of the Department of Endocrinology of Rangpur Medical College Hospital (RMCH) Dr. Rezaul Haque presided over the meeting.
Head of the Department of Eccrinology of RMCH Prof. Dr. Layek Ahmed Khan took part as the main discussant and narrated the reasons of the disease and the ways of controlling it.
Natore
Another message adds: The world Diabetes Day was observed in Natore on Monday. On this occasion a colourful procession was brought out led by Deputy Commissioner of Natore and president of Natore Diabetic Samity Md. Mazibar Rahman which paraded the main roads of the town. Later a discussion meeting was held at Natore Diabetic Samity auditorium presided over by executive member of the samity Md.Golam Faruk.
Faridpur
BSS reports: World Diabetes Day with the slogan 'Diabetes Kills One Person Every 8 Seconds: Act on Diabetes, Now' was observed in Faridpur Monday in a befitting manner.
Faridpur Diabetic Association chalked out elaborate programmes to create awareness about the diabetes among the people of the district.
To mark the day, a colourful rally was brought out in the morning from Diabetic Hospital which paraded different streets of the town.
