World Environment Day today

The World Environment Day will be observed in the country as elsewhere around the world today (Monday) with a view to creating awareness about importance of environment and nature, reports UNB.
The theme of this year's day is 'Connecting People to Nature'.
The Environment and Forests Ministry, and various non-governmental and green organisations have taken elaborate programmes marking the day.
On Sunday, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina spoke at a function marking the inauguration of the World Environment Day, Tree Fair and Campaign for Tree Plantation at Bangabandhu International Conference Center (BICC).
Later, the Prime Minister planted a jackfruit sapling at the BCCI compound marking the National Tree Plantation Campaign.
She also inaugurated the National Environment Fair and National Tree Fair-2017 at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar.
Bangladesh Krishibid Institution will arrange a discussion at its auditorium in the capital today(Monday) where Environment and Forests Minister Anwar Hossain Manju is expected to be present.
