World Food Festival got off to a colourful start

VUNG TAU CITY, July 24 (Commodity Online): World Food Festival got off to a colourful start in Vietnam's Vung Tau City with the participation of famous chefs, artists and artisans from as many as fifty foreign countries.
The event with the theme 'Taste the World' is estimated to attract over 900,000 visitors.
Thousands of international food lovers were thronging the food stalls lined three kilometres along Thuy Van Avenue at the city's main thoroughfare, to sample the exotic and unique array of flavours from various countries at the World Food Festival.
The Festival, displayed array of flavours from across the world including various biriyanis of India, chicken tikka from Pakistan, carp soup from Hungary, chicken and lamb kebab from Iran and tom yum kung from Thailand.
The host country, Vietnam too, displayed dishes ranged from pho (noodles with beef stock), banh xeo (southern pancake with pork, prawns, and vegetables), and bun bo Hue (large noodles with beef served with Hue-style stock) to unusual ones like reu nuong (baked algae), artichoke soup, xoi hat dieu ong tre (sticky rice with cashew baked in bamboo tubes), lon lung nhoi mang hap (steamed mountain pig stuffed with bamboo shoots) besides ethnic Khmer and Cham foods.
Many countries are showcasing their unique foods at the event which will go on until Sunday.
They include high-profile cuisines like French, Chinese, Indian, and Spanish and some lesser known ones like Palestinian, Myanmarese and Panamanian.
