JOYPURHAT, Apr 7: World Health Day on the slogan of 'Antimicrobial Resistance and its Global Spread' was observed with a rally and discussion meeting organised by district health department and non-government organisations in Joypurhat Thursday. A colourful rally was brought out with banners, festoons from Bazla High School which ended at Nursing Institute. A meeting was held at the place after the rally. Civil Surgeon Dr. Mozammel Haque presided over the meeting and Superintendent of district Modern Hospital Dr. Nazibur Rahman, Dr. Mohammad Ali, deputy director district family planning department, Nazimuddin BRAC health officer of Joypurhat spoke at the meeting. Khulna Our Correspondent from Khulna adds : World Health Day was observed in Khulna as elsewhere of the country. The health department, Khulna, Khulna City Corporation and non-government voluntary organisations jointly arranged an elaborate programme on the occasion of the day. In this connection, a discussion meeting was held at School Health Clinic of the town. The speakers expressed that the resistance power of human body has been destroyed gradually due to random use of antibiotic. The useful bacteria is also destroyed with the harmful bacteria in the human body for taking unnecessary antibiotic. Chapainawabganj BSS adds : Creating mass awareness against taking antibiotics without the prescription of the physicians was stressed here in observance of the world health day today. To mark the day a discussion meeting was held at Shahid Satu hall in the town today. District Civil Surgeon Dr. Muktara Begum was in the chair. Deputy Commissioner of Chapainawabganj K.M.Ali.Azam attended the meeting as the chief guest while convenor of the Committee of Concerned Citizen (CCC), District unit of Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB) Advocate Sohrab Ali and general secretary of the district unit of BMA Dr. Golam Rabbani. Earlier, a colourful rally arranged by the civil surgeon's office and participated by different government and non- government officials, representatives of NGOs paraded the main streets in the town.
