World Thalassemia Day observed

The World Thalassemia Day was observed across the country on Wednesday, says a press release.
Bangladesh Thalassaemia Samity in cooperation with the volunteers of Youth Club of Bangladesh observed the day.
The organisation held programmes in different places of the country, including Dhaka, Chattogram and Rajshahi districts, in observance of the day to raise public awareness about prevention of thalassemia.
Managing Director of Mutual Trust Bank Foundation Mahbubur Rahman inaugurated a month-long awareness programme on this occasion while former State Minister for Information Syed Didar Bakht, hematologist Prof Dr MA Khan, Bangladesh Thalassaemia Samity President Dr MA Matin, General Secretary of the organisation and adviser of the Youth Club of Bangladesh Engineer Mossarof Hossain and Bangladesh Thalassaemia Samity Executive Director Dr AKM Ekramul Hossain Swapan, among others, were present at the programme.
After the inauguration, a voluntary blood donation programme was organised at the Mutual Trust Bank Bhaban.
