World Twenty20 fiesta!

Sunday, 16 March 2014

The ICC World Twenty20 starts today and the cricket-mad world is waiting for this mega event to unfold so are the cricket-loving people of our country. We hope the Tigers will leave behind them the bad memories of the recently-concluded Asia Cup in which they failed to score any point, losing even to the newbie of cricket, Afghanistan. I love Twenty20 format as it gives us instant gratification and enjoyment. I cannot remain glued to the TV set to watch One Day International no matter how much I love to but I can watch Twenty20 as it is only a matter of four hours. The Twenty20 format has gained huge popularity in the recent times. When it was first introduced many people were sceptical about its success but now it is very popular everywhere and I hope the micro-format of cricket will encourage many more non-cricket playing nations to join the bandwagon.
The Tigers have won both of their warm-up matches and I believe it will give them the much-needed confidence in the tournament. This tournament will be played in three cities - Dhaka, Chittagong and Sylhet. The last time Sri Lanka hosted it. I hope the Tigers will play well. Without them in good shape, the tournament will lose much of its charm as they are the host nation.
