Writ challenges ICT secy of holding NGO post

A writ petition was filed with the High Court (HC) on Thursday challenging the legality of holding the post of an NGO by Information and Communication Technology Secretary M Nazrul Islam Khan. Jiten Chandra Biswas, an official of non-government organisation (NGO) ‘Swanirvar Bangladesh’, filed the writ. In the writ petition, it was alleged that Nazrul was appointed treasurer of Swanirvar Bangladesh on January 26, 2012 although he is a government servant which is a violation of the Government Servants (Conduct) Rules, 1979. The writ sought HC directives to bar Nazrul from discharging duties on both the posts and a stay on performing duties by the executive committee of Swanirvar Bangladesh, according to a news agency.
