Writ challenging legality rejected

A Division bench of the High Court Division has rejected a writ petition challenging the legality of the re-appointment of the Managing Director (MD) of Dhaka WASA Engineer Taqsem A Khan.
The writ was filed at the High Court Division by Engineer Md Arifur Rahman. But the Division Bench constituted by Justice Kazi Rezaul Haque and Justice A B M Altaf Hossain rejected the petition on April 17 as being thereĀ was no legal merit in that writ petition, according to a WASA press release.
Attorney General Mahbube Alam took part in the hearing on behalf of the Government; Barrister Shafiq Ahmed, Advocate A M Amin Uddin, Advocate Kamrunnesa Ratna and Advocate Munshi Moniruzzaman on behalf of Dhaka WASA, and senior Advocate Mansurul Haque Chowdhury on behalf of the petitioner took part in the hearing.
It may be mentioned that, earlier journalist Nizam Uddin and Engineer Hasan Mahmud filed two petitions challenging the legality of the re-appointment of the MD of Dhaka WASA.
