Writ seeks SC order to allow Piash’s body at Shaheed Minar

A writ petition was filed with the Supreme Court on Thursday seeking its directive on the government and the Dhaka University authorities to allow the family of Prof Piash’s Karim to take his body to Central Shaheed Minar. Eunus Ali Akond, a Supreme Court lawyer, who filed the petition said as per article 27 of the Constitution all citizens are equal and Piash Karim’s family has the right to take his body to Shaheed Minar as they are the citizens of Bangladesh. “The government and the Dhaka University authorities have been obstructing them from taking his body to Shaheed Minar which is illegal,” he added, according to a news agency.
