Writs filed against EC decision of cancelling candidacy

Three people, who lost their candidacy to contest the January 7 national polls over their dual citizenship, have filed separate writ petitions with the High Court against the decision taken by the Election Commission (EC), reports BSS.
The three are- Awami League nominee from Faridpur-3 Shamim Haque, Awami League nominee from Barisal-4 Shammi Ahmed and independent candidate for Barisal-5 Serniabat Sadiq Abdullah.
The EC on December 15 took the decision, cancelling the candidacy of these three on grounds of having dual citizenship.
