Wrong way to cheer up

THE fate of the last test match that was earlier scheduled to take place in Dhaka between Bangladesh and the visiting New Zealand in Dhaka is now known. Inclement weather has made afoul of it. It would have been a good experience for the Bangladesh side to play the match. The more they play test matches, the more they will get the exposure to international standard of to-day's highly competitive cricket matches. This is important for Bangladesh which is yet to make its mark in the international cricket arena, despite its getting full-membership of the international cricket body about a decade back.
For all practical purposes, we must admit that ours is a cricket team having many weaknesses to play particularly any test series. Our media personnel are hardly in a position to appreciate this in its proper perspective. As such, the media personnel are very often found to 'glorify' our team unnecessarily whenever, by any freak or accident, it scores some pluses. But that is certainly not the way to encourage the team in to-day's global cricket.
