WTTC, CSI stage world-class tourism summit in Dubai

FE Report | Thursday, 5 June 2008

The World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC) concluded Global Travel and Tourism Summit in Dubai recently aided by official summit coordinator Congress Solutions International (CSI).

The summit was held under the patronage of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al-Maktoum, prime minister and vice president of the United Arab Emirates and ruler of Dubai.

The high-level summit was attended by over 1,300 of the most influential decision makers in the travel and tourism industry -- from company CEOs to senior government officials and media representatives from around the globe.

Over the three-day summit, issues revolving around the global challenges and opportunities in travel and tourism were debated in a unique setting called 'The Round', a format which maximised audience interaction and engaged delegates in real dialogue.

CSI, working as an extension of the WTTC conference organisers, created partnership packages and secured sponsors for the summit, setting a new record of USD 3.15 million of sponsorship.

CSI also selected, contracted and coordinated local suppliers for production, publicity and technical requirements; finalised conference, and accommodation venues; planned entertainment programmes, tours and excursions; managed all event logistics including transportation and visa; and managed the overall budget - illustrating its breadth of expertise and services.

WTTC Chief Operations Officer Ufi Ibrahim said, "The 8th Global Travel and Tourism Summit has been a resounding success. The prograrnme format worked very well, and the delivery of it was top-notch.

CSI Senior Vice President Frederic Bardin said, " This achievement cements CSI's reputation as the leading Professional Congress Organiser (PCO) in the Middle East region, and also positions Dubai advantageously for future events of this calibre. What is most gratifying at the end of the day is the knowledge of a job well done, and exceeding our client's expectations."
