WUB awards gold medals to eminent persons

World University of Bangladesh (WUB) Sunday honoured two eminent figures of the country with gold medals for their outstanding contribution to the language movement and the War of Liberation. Language hero Ahmed Rafiq and freedom fighter Abdul Quddus Makhon (posthumous) were the recipients of the gold medals. WUB organised a programme in this connection at the Institute of Diploma Engineers Bangladesh (IDEB) auditorium Sunday. A freshers' reception was also held on the occasion. State Minister for Liberation War Affairs Capt (Retd) AB Tajul Islam attended the function as the chief guest, State Minister for Health and Family Welfare Capt (Retd) Mozibur Rahman Fakir as the special guest and Liberation War Affairs Ministry Secretary Mizanur Rahman as the guest of honour. WUB Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Abdul Mannan Choudhury presided over the programme. The chief guest stated that WUB is contributing to making a digital Bangladesh through producing human resources. "This is the month of Independence. We fought to achieve it, and you'll have to retain it," he advised students.
